The finance industry must prove now or never its capacity to end its fossil fuel addiction, or must be regulated to do it.
ABOUT BREAKFREE
We focus on addressing the urgent challenge of finance transformation and people’s rights. We aim to stop the financing of projects that drive the climate and biodiversity crises and disregard human rights.
Indigenous peoples and local communities are crucial allies in this effort. While individual actions are important, they are not enough. We must hold major carbon emitters accountable by collaborating with those on the frontlines, who are directly fighting in their territories against projects that contribute to climate change, harm local territories, indigenous communities, and violate their rights. Together we reclaim our power from finance.

#RogerWakeUp – When Tennis Met Climate Justice
In 2020, together with Lausanne Action Climat, we launched #RogerWakeUp, urging Roger Federer to cut ties with Credit Suisse due to the bank’s massive fossil fuel investments. Dressed as tennis players, we peacefully occupied Credit Suisse branches, which led to arrests and a high-profile trial.
The campaign sparked national debate on greenwashing, celebrity responsibility, and the role of Swiss banks in fueling the climate crisis.
